Increased mixture of biofuel in SE diesel, due to governmental reduction obligation by law
The Swedish government has implemented a greenhouse gas reduction mandate for gasoline and diesel. This means that fuel suppliers must reduce greenhouse gas emissions from gasoline and diesel by a certain percentage every year. The greenhouse gas reduction mandate is intended to contribute to the national goal of 70 percent greenhouse gas reduction from domestic transport by 2030.
The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions so that Sweden achieves the goal of becoming net emissions neutral by 2045.
The law means that the reduction obligation for petrol is increased from 4.2 to 6 percent and for diesel from 21 to 26 percent. In 2022, the reduction obligation will be increased to 7.8 percent for petrol and 30.5 percent for diesel. Then it continues with annual gradual increases until 2030, when the reduction obligation for petrol will be 28 percent and for diesel 66 percent.
The reduction obligation will mean that Swedish diesel will gradually increase in price.
